Energy Medicine — Qi Gong

With the intention to improve the flow of energy (qi), qi gong and tai chi, are components of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and combine movement with meditation and breathing exercises. Widely practiced in China, qi gong promotes healing by stimulating physiological effects through breath practice and focused awareness through gentle movement.

Potential Application for Children with Cancer

Studies suggest qi gong may provide patients with a variety of health benefits, including pain management and improved muscular strength, flexibility, and posture. Qi gong is an appropriate exercise for adolescents and young adults with cancer who may need additional therapy to help improve coordination.
